About
Yavetsi Kevogo, known professionally and artistically as Kevogowildlife, is a Kenyan African wildlife artist and sculptor based in Nairobi, Kenya. Grounded in a strong tradition of fine art. Yavetsi earned his formal training at the BuruBuru Institute of Fine Arts (BIFA), graduating in 2017. Working primarily with acrylics and oils, as well as three-dimensional sculptural media, Yavetsi’s practice focuses on realism, intricate detail, and expressive depictions of African fauna and local tribal heritage. His work explores themes of environmental conservation, the protection of endangered species, and the deep historical and cultural interconnectedness between humanity and the natural world. Through atmospheric depth, carefully observed animal behavior, and rich texture, Kevogowildlife creates immersive visual experiences designed to celebrate East Africa’s natural heritage while advocating for its preservation.
Profile Overview
“My practice centers on the raw, unfiltered narratives of African wildlife and the human experience, exploring how our deep-rooted history continues to shape contemporary culture. Rather than viewing nature and humanity as separate entities, I dive into the untold stories, cultural traditions, and historical connections often overlooked in mainstream recordings. Through realistic wildlife painting, sculpture, and multi-medium projects, I aim to capture not just the physical form of my subjects, but the living spirit, resilience, and profound interplay between Africa’s wildlife and its people.”
